Jupiter is a 1 year old, 35 pound Shepherd mix.  Jupiter shines in his interactions with other dogs! Jupiter and his 4-legged foster brother love to chase each other in the backyard in circles and he gets so excited he will trip over his own feet! He is really playful with other dogs and would do best with another confident, welcoming and friendly dog in the home to show this concerned young boy the ropes.

Jupiter is a sweet, very shy and concerned pup who is still learning to trust that the world is a safe place. He is easily alarmed, so he needs patience and love to warm up. Once Jupiter trusts you, he is very loyal and will want to be close to you and always by your feet. He is sensitive to stimulus (loud sounds, sudden movements) and needs a quiet, unhurried home. For now, Jupiter is more comfortable with women, so will need slow introductions and patience by any men in his life.

For Jupiter, his crate is a safe and cozy space where he can retreat if things are too stressful and he is happy to hang out there when left alone during the day. He also sleeps well in his crate at night. Jupiter has shown himself to be very reliably potty trained in his foster home and wants to do his business outdoors.

Jupiter's favorite treat is peanut butter! He is very gentle taking treats and offered food from hands. Jupiter is currently taking an anti-anxiety medication to help him start to trust the world a bit more. He will need to stay on this medicati on for the foreseeable future, and should receive both ongoing positive reinforcement training and high quality vet care to help with both his physical and emotional progress .

Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.
