Melissa's Story
Melissa brings extensive experience in leadership, project management, legal administration, and training, having spent the majority of her career working at corporate law firms. Following her legal career, Melissa applied her skillset to the nonprofit space with a focus on animal welfare and cancer support. She has founded multiple organizations including San Jose Animal Advocates, Cancer Companion Pets, and in 2014, Silicon Valley Pet Project.
Melissa shares her life with her husband Stephen, two rescue kitties, Newbie and Henry, and two rescue dogs, Greta Lou and Strawberry.
Pets have made such an impact on my life, especially during times of major change and health issues, that I was inspired to change my career path to focus on pet life-saving efforts and education.
Through SVPP's work, we hope to not only rescue many pets who need a little more support and care but find ways to encourage more community involvement in our mission.
