![]() A Special Dog. A Chance to Help! When we rescued Leo from the final status list at the San José Animal Care Center, we believed he would be permanently disabled. Our team prepared to outfit him with a wheelchair and provide the lifelong care he would need to thrive. But Leo’s story took a hopeful and unexpected turn. After a visit with Dr. Fitch at Beacon Veterinary Specialists, we learned Leo has a congenital defect in both back legs—a Grade 4 patella luxation caused by misaligned quadriceps muscles. It’s serious, but surgically correctable. With this surgery, Leo—just a year old—has a very promising prognosis. He could live many years walking and running without pain. Your support can help us give Leo that future. Every donation brings us closer to giving Leo the chance to walk, run, and play like he deserves.
