Now if only her mother would come downstairs, her sister would get off the couch, her first patient would do one of his assignments, her boss would leave his gun at home, and someone would catch the tiger that escaped from the local zoo, everything would be just perfect.

Bow Wow is a traveling film festival that celebrates, educates and inspires all things doggie (with or without their human) through the art of short film. Doors open at 11:30am. There will be two showings – noon and 2pm. The event is s ponsored by City of San Jose and Councilmember Pierluigi Oliverio. P roceeds benefit San Jose Animal Care & Services (SJACC), Humane Society Silicon Valley and various rescue groups in attendance. SVPP will have a table there so come by and say hi! Internationally recognized cat behavior specialist and award winning author Marilyn Krueger, The Cat Coach®, will be sharing positive and humane methods for helping to resolve a couple of the most common behavior problems that cause cats to be needlessly surrendered to shelters and euthanized: inter-cat aggression and inappropriate elimination.

Join SVPP for a one hour complimentary Doga (Dog + Yoga) class – part of the Summer at St. James Park Series hosted by San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services.
Beverly Bachoo , a certified yoga instructor, will take people and their pups through a yoga practice suitable for all-levels. Amelia Olson , a certified dog trainer, will be available to provide basic guidance for dos and dont's for canine participants. After the class there will be time to meet SVPP adoptable dogs and mix and mingle with the others in the class. Information about SVPP, our local shelter, low-cost spay/neuter/vaccination services and other community resources/educational materials will be distributed. SVPP Volunteers will also be on hand to answer questions about volunteer/foster/adoption opportunities.
This event provides a healthy way to stay fit of mind and body and to enjoy quality time with your canine best friend while enjoying one of downtown San Jose’s most historic parks. Doga in the Park participants will also be invited to share in a bonding meditation to cultivate calm behavior in pets and their people!
Water + Treats will be provided to humans and canines alike.
Participants bring*: their own dogs (or inner canine/pooch) yoga mat and any props needed NON retractable leash *It is also fine to come along without a dog!

Does your kitty go crazy for little catnip mice or the magic catnip carrot? Under the guidance of artist and crafter, Desiree McCrorey, make your own catnip kitty toys here at The Dancing Cat! We will supply cat-friendly fabric, catnip and other resources on hand for creative exploration. Our adorable cats will provide the inspiration. No previous sewing experience is necessary. You can assemble your toy with fabric glue or needle and thread.
Workshop Fee: $30 (includes materials)
Material Note: Please bring a pair of fabric cutting scissors. While we will provide fabric, you are invited to also bring your own favorite fabric samples. Here's a chance to use up some of those odds and ends you've been saving; buttons, fringe, lace, ribbons, feathers, beads, etc!

During this special event, Rani will answer your questions to address issues, overcome obstacles, and contribute to the optimal quality of your relationship with your pet. Bring a photo of your cat, dog, rabbit or even your snake; she can answer questions about any pet you have. Rani will look at your photos as she addresses your specific questions.

Receiving henna is a beautiful, relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The Dancing Cat is privileged to be hosting the talented Jasmeen Dhanjal! Come meet her and get a beautiful floral, fall, or feline themed henna tattoo. Collectively, we will create auspicious energy supporting our cats finding beautiful forever homes. About Jasmeen: Locally born and raised in Sunnyvale, CA, Jasmeen has been practicing the henna art since she was only 14 years old. In addition to henna, she also enjoys Punjabi folk dance and ballet!

Marilyn Krieger, certified cat behavior consultant and author will take you through the how, when and whys of feeding cats in stimulating ways that address natural behaviors. Instead of spending lots of money on fancy feeders and puzzle toys, you will find out how to easily make your own and identify handy household objects that double as perfect feeding systems. You will leave with Marilyn’s favorite feeding tool—perfect for treats (dry, canned and raw). While session will not cover what to feed your cat, it will provide perspective on common feeding mistakes people make. It will also include Q & A with Marilyn.
